Grounding essentially means to be truly ’embodied’ – it may sound strange but we can become so disconnected to ourselves which can lead to poor physical health and even not noticing pain or physical disease at the most extreme.
Being in touch with our physical bodies is vital for ‘holistic health’
You can get more reconnected with your body in various ways, such as:
Doing physical exercise / being in nature and feeling connected to the earth / eating wholesome food / get plenty of rest and sleep. Avoid stimulants (alcohol / drugs / caffeine) and reduce intense spiritual practices (eg. meditation / prayer)
How do you become more grounded?
- Eating healthy
- Drinking water
- Walking, especially in natural surroundings
- Sports, yoga, tai chi etc.
- Animals eg. walking the dog
- Being purposeful
- Visualization of roots/colours
- Carrying / working with crystals
